Connan Mockasin

New Zealand’s psych-pop chameleon brings his otherworldly magic back to Auckland. Connan Mockasin's alluring and eccentric musical persona has endeared the New Zealand native to a cult worldwide audience, earning him a singular reputation for his strange world of sonic sensation which remains unmistakably his own: bizarre, intimate, and influential.
A prodigious musician and producer, the New Zealand multi-instrumentalist broke out with his jazzy, soft rock inspired Forever Dolphin Love (2010) and its follow-up Caramel (2013) – concerning the tender, tragic relationship between a man and dolphin – before going on to collaborate with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Dev Hynes, MGMT and John Cale, and tour with Radiohead. His album Jassbusters (2018), its sequel Jazzbusters 2 (2021), and the wildly improvised It’s Just Wind (2021) saw Mockasin jettisoning convention to roam across country rock, soul and musical surrealism.
